So France won the #WorldCup2018 (thanks to their mostly-African and Muslim team), but before they could score the last winning goals or pose for a picture completely ecstatic and drenched, four members (1 male, 3 female: Nika Nikulshina, Olga Kurachyova and Olga Pakhtusova) of the badass protest punk group Pussy Riot stormed the field dressed as police during the to protest human rights abuses in Russia (thanks to their own evil leader, Putin).
via their social media:

Pretty subtle way to let the world know what a shithole Russia is for their citizens!
via the New Yorker:
The message is not intended to be subtle. In Putin’s Russia, dozens of people are behind bars for political crimes—which do in fact include social-media behavior such as “liking” and “sharing.” Unlike the 2014 Olympics, in Sochi, where Pussy Riot also protested, the World Cup has occasioned little criticism or reflection from Western politicians or media. It has proceeded undisturbed, as though a Heavenly Policeman were guarding its dreamlike state. For Russians, whose cities have filled with crowds of foreign soccer fans over the past few weeks, it has also provided a vision of a different life, one of a country integrated into a big and friendly world.
Not sure about you guys, but this was definitely the highlight of the game for me!
Also, praying for their safety while they remain incarcerated and face what is sure to be an unjust rial.
