Newark has Pride

I am not the kind of queer that liiiiives for Pride -- miss me with the dreaded ex run-ins, drunken debauchery, and low-key sexual assault. BUT I try to be out-loud proud of my queerness and celebrate it every day. But there is something special about your hometown celebrating your (very often marginalized) community, and even more special when the love of your life is one of the participants!

Genius spoken word-er Cindy Goncalves is one of the featured poets at Newark, NJ's pride Kick-off event this Wednesday, July 11th, at Newark Public Library's gorgeous Garden.

There will be poems, jazz, and lots and lots of joy. Join us there and then at 6pm, and come fangirl over bae with me!
